Position Available: 0 Permanent full-time Police Officer
Essential Functions: The Easthampton Police Department has
(0)
fulltime Patrol Officer vacancies. The candidate must be able to work in the
protection of life and property, and for the prevention and
suppression of crime and all other related work as requires. The
candidate must work under the supervision of a superior officer. Make
decisions based on clearly prescribed standards. Make frequent contacts with the general public. Moderate and
occasionally strenuous physical effort may be required in performing
related duties.
Candidates for the position MUST have the following qualifications:
- Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council "Fulltime
Academy" certificate.
- Valid Massachusetts drivers license.
- Minimum of ONE (1) Years experience in the police field.
- Valid Massachusetts license to carry firearms.
- College degree is preferred but not required.

Recommendations For Hiring Special Police
Officers
Age must be 19+ years.
Mass Criminal Justice Training Council
certificate or ONE year in service as a Community Service Officer (or)
Associate Degree in Criminal Justice
preferred or documented attendance in Criminal Justice program.
Must pass two (2) general interviews (panel
of sergeants and Field Training Officers)
Must pass final interview (Chief or
designee - two (2) sergeants)
Recommendation of eligible candidates to
Chief and Town Personnel Director
Candidates must:
Provide medical clearance from personal
doctor
Successfully complete a background
investigation
Complete 28 hours of classroom training
Complete 16 shifts (8 hours each) of
training with FTO's
Qualify with firearm and OC spray
Complete E-911 training
Complete training in CPR and First
Responder
Complete ONE (1) year's probationary period
from date of graduation from FTP program
Be evaluated (performance evaluations) 12
times per year - evaluations will be completed by supervisors
Special Officers (part-time) will be paid
for all training
When openings occur in the regular
police force, Special Officers will be eligible for full-time employment and will be
ranked for eligibility on the basis of their performance evaluations and recommendations
from supervisors. The top three (3) candidates will be recommended to the Chief for
full-time appointment.
