Police Gear

One of the single most important pieces of police gear or police equipment to modernize law enforcement is the police radio. Early police radios were limited mainly to patrol cars due to their bulk and size. By the end of the twentieth-century, officers often carried radios on their person but they were still somewhat bulky and had many other problems.

For instance, many were merely two-way radios and had no capacity to send textual information. Another problem was that even the channeled radios could be listened to by anyone with even rudimentary anti-encryption devices. So just about anybody could track their movements and their strategies. This bit of police gear had to improve.

By the late 1990’s most of these problems had been resolved. Most radios today have an earpiece which connects to a computer like text reader lower on the officer. And though it is still possible to hack into the police radio transmissions, it is much more difficult and requires not only extensive know-how but also expensive equipment. Truly, the police radio is one important component of police gear.
