Good police supplies are necessary to make sure ever officer can be safe and effective. Perhaps the most useful tool an officer carries is a high-powered flashlight. This tool is useful in pursuing a suspect, looking for evidence, and in performing functionality tests on suspects who may have consumed drugs or alcohol.

It’s obvious the importance of a flashlight in a nighttime foot chase by police. Supplies like this have maybe more important value though in inspecting a nighttime crime scene. Precious evidence could be damaged, destroyed or lost from sight by any traffic across the crime scene. So a careful thorough search of a flashlight may end up saving lives.

Police supplies like the flashlight can also be used to examine suspects who may have used drugs or alcohol. The eyes of a drunken person tend to shake side to side when trying to follow a bright light. And the eyes of someone on many different drugs tend to dilate widely and the contact very dramatically when exposed to bright light. Clearly, the flashlight is a very important part of the officer’s toolkit.
